I'm fairly good at doing my eye makeup but whenever I try to do a sexy smokey eye look it flops. I have large round eyes. My friend has almond shaped eyes and when I did the same smokey makeup on her and myself her eyes looked amazing and mine...well they just looked big and dark. I have blue eyes, and blonde hair

go lighter use gray instead of blk and maybe your eyeshadow is chalky and you press too hard and your skin and hers are different so it takes color differently.

find things that are your eye color but are a darker or lighter that your eyes, but in the same color. like blue eyes need navy blue w/ glitter(small shreds). green eyes need evergreen. brown needs gold...............and so on and so on
