Why cant I get a hair dresser to give me ideas to do with my hair?

In magazines for hair, they say discuss your personality and what you want "sexy, more grown-up, etc.." ideas to do with your hair with the hairdresser. But when I do try to get their opinion they dont even try and just look at me as if to say "why are you asking me this?"

Be careful of hair dressers, especially if you are beautiful. They sabotage you and cut your hair too short. I myself, have a great hairdresser that does what I say.

Because most the time when stylists do what they think is a good look,the person doesn't like it.It is much better to find a picture of a cut or color you like,than ask their opinion.Then both of you can go from there.It is much easier to have a starting point than to read someones mind.

Because you are speaking with the wrong hair dresser. Unfortunately, finding a good stylist is like finding a good doctor because you need to find someone who you can communicate with and get constructive feedback with and someone whom you can build trust with while doing your hair.

A good stylist regardless of the price of services is supposed to be a good listener. They have to understand and evaluate your expectations about what style you want. Also, you need to know the amount of upkeep. Is this style or color high maintenance, or is it wash and go.

The best thing u can do is to figure out which will be best for u by going through online hair styles....i found one for myself...printed it out n showed it to the hair dresser...first she said it wouldnt look good on me...but once she gave this hair style to me she just kept looking at it...she was quite surprised to find out that she did an excellent job on me....n i got lots of praises from other people too.

I know exaclty what you mean. Personally looking at them i think they feel uncomfortable givng you advise as you may think they are the profesional then if you follow what they say and you dont like it it may back fire on them. I think they like to stay profesional but just doing your hair not 'telling' you what to do with it, its silly but i think thats just how they work.

Its best if you have some ideas to ask them on this website, where your not face to face with a hairdresser and they can reccomend good styles for you.
